We all have a favorite food, a favorite hoodie, a favorite TV show, a favorite song. We find comfort in these favorite things, and they often, quite simply, bring us joy. And when it comes to dancewear, it’s the same idea! We have those leotards that make us feel good, those tights that are a staple in our dance bag, those warm-up booties that are a must-have during long rehearsal days and maybe even that ballet skirt that makes us do a clean triple pirouette each time. They’re our favorites! And they’re made by our favorite and trusty label or brand.

We wanted to hear from some professional dancers about their favorites, so we reached out to Só Dança ambassadors Melissa Tannús and Addie Tapp about what they must have in their dancewear attire rotation and why they wear Só Dança.

What are some of your favorite Só Dança products? Which products do you regularly have in your dance bag?

“My all-time favorite Só Dança product is my custom pink and white leather tap shoe with my embroidered logo. I also love my tap shoes with heart embroidery and my high heels, which hold a special place in my heart since it was designed by one of my tap teachers, Christiane Matallo. The products I am always wearing and you can always find in my dance bag are: my custom tap shoes, my tap shoe cover and any kind of Só Dança leggings and crop tops, but I’m obsessed with the Tiffany set.”

“My favorite and most used Só Dança product would be my lilac Cloud Booties, which I always make sure to have with me when we move into the theater for performances to keep my feet extra warm. I also love my BE YOU™ Juliet cap sleeve leo when I am feeling something elegant and my Grace camisole for ultimate comfort.”

Why do you wear Só Dança?

Tapp

“I wear Só Dança because I can always trust that their products are of good quality and will be long-lasting. I also love the constant innovation of styles and level of comfort of their dancewear.”

Tannús

“I wear Só Dança because the tap shoes are not only beautiful but also sound amazing! In addition to that, they are extremely comfortable and won’t hurt as you break them in, which is rare to find. Lastly, their products are very durable. Believe it or not, I still wear shoes and leggings that I got over 10 years ago.”

What do you love most about the Só Dança brand and family?

Tannús

“One of the things I love the most about Só Dança is the fact that it’s a Brazilian brand that always supports Brazilian artists, like myself. I also love that the brand truly thinks about dancers when it designs new products. In fact, I remember being amazed at how much they valued Christiane’s input as they were designing and testing the professional high heel tap shoes. Moreover, the Só Dança team is very welcoming, and the ambassadors are always celebrating one another. It truly feels like a family, which is very special.”

Tapp

“The Só Dança family is a group of absolutely fantastic, kind, talented people. I have very much enjoyed being able to work with them over the past few years. I also appreciate how the Só Dança brand is revolutionizing dancewear and continuously trying new things.”

Is there any So Danca product you wish you had when you were a younger dancer or just getting started?

“When I was growing up, we didn’t have access to any kind of tap shoes that weren’t black, so I remember getting emotional when I purchased my first plaid Só Dança tap shoes because of how happy I was. I wish I could have customized my tap shoes when I was younger; I’m sure that colorful shoes would make me even more excited to perform and take class. However, I love that the kids have this possibility nowadays, and I truly enjoy seeing them with tap shoes that match their costumes.

Só Dança has always been a part of my dancing life: my first professional tap shoe was Só Dança’s, my first colorful shoe was Só Dança’s, my first high heel tap shoe was Só Dança’s, the first professional dance company I ever joined in Brazil was sponsored by Só Dança, the first commercial I ever participated in was Só Dança’s, the first professional dance company I joined in the United States was sponsored by Só Dança, and the list of important moments with Só Dança goes on and on. I’m thankful and honored to represent a brand that has been with me since the very beginning and that I am truly passionate about. I highly recommend their tap shoes to any aspiring young dancer, because I know how much it made a difference for me to start my career wearing their high quality products.”
