Ballet Hispánico is proud to announce the New Director of The Ballet Hispánico School, Blanca Huertas, who assumes the position immediately.

Blanca embodies all three,” said Artistic Director and CEO Eduardo Vilaro. “Her proven leadership, depth of experience, and alignment with our values of inclusion, empowerment, and cultural pride ensure that she will elevate the school and inspire the next generation of artists.”
Blanca Huertas began her ballet training in Puerto Rico under her mother, Blanca E. Cortés, before joining Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico as an apprentice and corps member, later becoming a Principal Soloist with Ballets de San Juan under Ana García. She performed lead roles in Fille Mal Gardée, Coppélia, Firebird, and Giselle, as well as Balanchine works like Apollo and Who Cares?, and classics including Swan Lake and Nutcracker. She also danced Puerto Rican choreography such as Los Soles Truncos and Misa Criolla, with guest appearances at Ballet Municipal de San Juan under her father, Victor Huertas.
An ABT® Certified Teacher for Primary through Level 7 & Partnering, Huertas has guided students to prestigious programs like the Royal Ballet, Paris Opera, and American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensives. She founded Pennsylvania Ballet Arts, served on the faculty of Philadelphia Ballet, and was a lead teaching artist in their community programs, as well as faculty at Ballet Hispánico. Holding a B.A. in Business Administration from Temple University and an M.F.A. in Choreography from Jacksonville University, she also completed CUBALLET certification with Laura Alonso. Huertas has directed the Puerto Rico Classical Dance Competition, Drexel University’s Dance Program, and Cincinnati Ballet’s Academy. She is thrilled to return to Ballet Hispánico School in a new role.
