Queensland Ballet is one of Australia’s leading state ballet companies, led by Artistic Director Li Cunxin (Mao’s Last Dancer). On Sunday, August 14, 2016, the company will be holding its first ever New York open auditions.

The Brisbane-based company is auditioning for Company Dancers, plus Young Artists and Senior Program positions in the Queensland Ballet Academy (ages 15 – 18).

Amongst the company’s major achievements in recent times are record-breaking seasons of Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Peter Schaufuss’ La Sylphide and Derek Deane’s Strictly Gershwin. Queensland Ballet has also enjoyed highly successful seasons with in-demand international talent, including Trey McIntyre (Peter Pan), Ma Cong (Ershter Vals, In The Best Moments for Lest We Forget) and Liam Scarlett (A Midsummer Night’s Dream).

Queensland Ballet Academy’s world-class training programs are supervised by both the Artistic Director and Director of Training, Christian Tátchev. Academy students enjoy a learning environment committed to technical and artistic excellence, as well as performance opportunities within mainstage Company productions and at other prestigious events.

All applicants must register online through the Queensland Ballet website prior to the audition date.
