Avant Chamber Ballet (ACB) welcomes you to a world of darkness and desire, where the immortal reigns and shadows dance with exquisite grace in Dracula. This is a world premiere by Artistic Director Katie Puder with score by Philip Glass, performed live by Cezanne Quartet. ACB is thrilled to bring this new creation to Dallas audiences on October 27 at 7:30pm, and October 28 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, at Moody Performance Hall.

The ballet pays homage to the haunting prose of Bram Stoker’s novel, a literary work that dared to unravel the enigmatic secrets of the undead. This production takes the story from Victorian society and brings it into the modern world and aesthetic looking into the mirror of morality that has made this story captivating readers worldwide, reborn through the timeless language of dance and the score by Philip Glass.

“This ballet is years in the making,” says Puder. “I love Philip Glass’s music and have wanted to make this ballet ever since I found the original recording of Dracula. It was composed to accompany the classic 1931 Dracula film with Bela Lugosi and so perfectly tells the story on its own while being so incredibly dance-able and melodic.”

Dracula launches the ACB’s 2023-24 season. The 2023-24 season will also include ACB’s beloved production of The Nutcracker with Live Orchestra in both Dallas with ACB’s orchestra and the company’s debut in Fort Worth with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. This exciting season also boasts Star-Crossed in February 2024, and Women’s Choreography Project in March 2024. The season will close with the second full-length world premiere of Snow White in May 2024.

Avant Chamber Ballet’s Dracula will be presented from October 27-28, at Moody Performance Hall in Dallas, TX. For tickets and more information, head to www.avantchamberballet.org.
