Under the directorship of Kathleen Breen Combes, Ballet RI is the proud evolution of Festival Ballet Providence as it continues to embark on an innovative future. Its commitment to present art that inspires and challenges will remain strong, as will its efforts to bring dance to communities that have long faced barriers to access.

“Art, by its very nature, must evolve to stay relevant, interesting and compelling,” said Breen Combes. “Through the years, Festival Ballet Providence has evolved to serve communities across the Ocean State, and I’m thrilled that under this expanded new identity, Ballet RI will continue to serve as a meeting place for audiences and a platform for artists across the region and beyond.”

Through visually stunning performances, education and community engagement, Ballet RI reimagines a traditional dance form into a modern-day experience that reflects the rich diversity of Rhode Island.

“I am thrilled to see this exciting new chapter for an institution that has grown into an artistic engine for all Rhode Islanders,” said Laurine Ryan-Perry, Board President.

With unique programs led by Artistic Curator Yury Yanowsky, and many powerful choreographers and collaborations, Ballet RI will set the stage for a bold and innovative future with iconic and groundbreaking masterpieces and surprising narratives.
