Hairspray, Broadway’s Tony Award®-winning musical comedy sensation, is on a North American tour and will be at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre from May 30 to June 4.
This new touring production reunites Broadway’s award-winning creative team, led by Director Jack O’Brien and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell, to bring Hairspray to a new generation of theater audiences.
Piloted by original director Jack O’Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, Hairspray is the story of 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she sets out to dance onto TV’s most popular show.
Mitchell shared, “Hairspray has always been about us dancing together! I am thrilled to welcome this new company of amazing #FULLOUT talents to lead the way as we dance across America with a message of inclusion and hope because ‘You Really Can’t Stop the Beat!’”
The show Hairspray asks, can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world? This musical says a vibrant “yes!”
Hairspray has an unforgettable soundtrack, boasting the beloved score of hit songs, including “Good Morning Baltimore” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”
The cast will be led by Andrew Levitt, aka Nina West, as Edna Turnblad; Niki Metcalf as Tracy Turnblad; and Sandie Lee as Motormouth Maybelle. Joining them are Charlie Bryant III as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Nick Cortazzo as Link Larkin, Ralph Prentice Daniel as Wilbur Turnblad, Billy Dawson as Corny Collins, Ryahn Evers as Amber Von Tussle, Addison Garner as Velma Von Tussle, Emery Henderson as Penny Pingleton and Joi D. McCoy as Little Inez. As well as a sizeable stellar ensemble.
Take advantage of this unforgettable show’s short visit to Atlanta. It’ll have you tapping along and singing the songs for days afterward.
