Canada’s Choreography Online, in collaboration with the United Kingdom’s International Performing Arts and Theatre (I-PATH), opens an online accredited Diploma in Choreography Program to the United States.

Taught by industry connector, choreographer, casting director, and digital dance expert Rick Tjia, CEO of Choreography Online, the Diploma in Choreography Program is an accreditation course unlike any other, because it combines the most recent technological advances with insider knowledge gained from 30 years experience with the most prominent contemporary dance companies and top grossing arts entertainment houses. The course guides choreographers toward increased success and confidence in their artistic creations while also educating them in rights management, career development and modern marketing methods. Using the geographical power of the internet, choreographers are guided while working in their respective countries. Privileged intel on how to copyright and sell choreography online and offline is only offered through Choreography Online, the only digital marketplace for buying and selling choreography internationally.

September 6 begins the seven-month first unit of the course for the U.S., Canada and the UK. The course has three units in total. Each unit is priced at approximately $415 USD. The price includes the examination fee for the diploma and accreditation by I-PATH.

The course is for established or aspiring choreographers of all styles of dance, ages 18 and up, looking to work in the high-end arts entertainment industry or with concert dance companies. Registration is now open: www.i-path.biz/diploma-in-choreography.

Tjia is the CEO of Choreography Online, the world’s first online choreography market, and both producer and director of the International Online Dance Competition (IODC) which discovers the world’s upcoming dance creators. As principal dancer with La La La Human Steps for eight years, Tjia toured and performed in over 25 countries and 100 different cities. He has also worked in the movie industry in Los Angeles, as both a dancer and actor. In 2004, he joined the Cirque du Soleil Casting Team as an Artistic Talent Scout for all styles of dance, where he played an integral part in building the online casting database, pioneered video audition casting standards, auditioned and cast numerous running shows and new creations over the course of 16 years. He was also one of the original acrobatic choreographers on Cirque du Soleil’s big top touring show, Volta
