Master teacher Diana Byer announces the launch of Teaching Cecchetti online classes, a new channel meant to educate today’s dancers via social media. Through posting engaging and relevant content, Teaching Cecchetti highlights forgotten steps, Cecchetti fundamentals, and teaching methods passed down from Margaret Craske, Diana’s mentor and a direct pupil of Enrico Cecchetti. Since October 2025, Teaching Cecchetti has already garnered 2.7 million views with the help of Alex Angrist, one of Diana’s former pupils.

The project reflects Diana Byer’s lifelong dedication to the Cecchetti tradition, as a highly sought-after teacher with over 45 years of experience working with ages eight through professional. Her classes support holistic training, evaluating each student as an individual. Byer founded New York Theatre Ballet, a company celebrated for its artistic integrity and its commitment to preserving important works while nurturing new voices.

Whether you’re a curious beginner eager to glimpse the Cecchetti classroom in action or an experienced dancer looking to refresh and deepen your technique in moments, Teaching Cecchetti offers accessible insights rooted in a rich tradition passed down from Enrico Cecchetti to Margaret Craske to Diana Byer. The platform reframes modern ballet through the Cecchetti style, where technique serves as a vital tool for shaping thoughtful, expressive artists rather than an end in itself. The method balances structure and expression, prioritizing understanding over mere execution and artistry over raw talent alone. Through this, Diana Byer continues Margaret Craske’s mission to cultivate musicality, gesture, skill, and true artistry in the next generation of dancers.

“We are committed to sharing insights into how and why we teach dance—highlighting the importance of individualized instruction, safe training practices, and the integration of artistry into daily classroom work. The mission goes beyond preserving the Cecchetti method; we aim to make it relevant and valuable for today’s dancers, educators, and artists as they navigate the ever-changing world of dance,” said Diana Byer.
