Dance studio owners should mark their calendar for August 23rd and 24th if they want to snag a plethora of very discounted costumes for their dancers at the Dance Costume Liquidation Sale, located in King of Prussia, PA. Costuming dancers for recitals and performances is a massive part of running a studio, and this sale should ease the financial burden and concerns about finding the right match for any given piece. The sale is a collaborative effort between Dance Teacher Web (DTW) and Dance New York City (DNYC), and will offer costumes up to 80 percent off their original prices.
Costume trade shows have been around for a long time, dating back to the mid-’50s, when a group of family-owned merchants joined forces to show their wares at hotels around the country. At the time, costume catalogs used simple sketches to describe each piece, so the in-person sale gave customers the opportunity to see them in all their vibrant, glittery wonder. Since then, costume trade shows have persisted, even with the internet and online shopping. Dance Costume Liquidation Sale brings the best of all worlds to this event, making it easy, efficient and fun.
Each year, major costume companies release the latest styles, rendering the previous year’s less desirable, leading to overstock issues. The collaboration between DTW and DNYC, harkening back to the origins of costume trade shows, allows for many major costume companies to show their remainder stock in one place – an appealing option for studio owners and the first time it’s happened like this.
According to to Renee Stojek of DNYC, this approach will work simply. “Each costume company is going to have their own conference room, and attendees will go from one costume room to the next and be able to see samples of all the liquidated costumes. They’ll put the order together, pay for it, and the company will ship it out directly to them.”
The timeliness of the sale makes it even more valuable as sequined material is only made in China, and with the economic uncertainty of global trade currently, purchasing items that are already in the U.S. makes good financial sense. In addition to the discounted costumes, the show will have giveaways, and a grand prize of $10,000 worth of costume and brand credits to be raffled off based on ticket sales from purchase amounts.
This sale is a one-of-a-kind event between the many vendors (including non-costumes but dance industry vendors), easy ordering and delivery, fun giveaways and raffles, and deeply discounted merchandise.
