Vis-à-Vis Studio Series from February 14th to November 1st, Thomas Dixon Centre
In the unique Vis-à-vis Studio Series, different aspects of dance will be illustrated choreographically through a series of short works in the relaxed space of the Thomas Dixon Centre. Introducing each work, Artistic Director François Klaus will offer his own distinctive insights into the art of dance. Particular themes will be explored in depth, using excerpts from the Company’s repertoire: from works-in-progress and new creations by emerging choreographers to classical pieces. Informative and entertaining, Vis-à-vis is designed to get you face-to-face with dance!
Vis-à-vis will be performed in 3 sections throughout the year. Vis-à-vis 1 will run from February 14th to March 29th, Vis-à-vis 2 from May 2nd to 17th and Vis-à-vis 3 from October 23rd to November 1st.

International Gala 2008, from August 8th to 10th, Playhouse QPAC
An exciting mix of international stars, guest choreographers and the superb dancers of Queensland Ballet has made the International Gala an outstanding annual feature of the Australian dance calendar. In 2008, François Klaus will bring together a stunning program of new works choreographed especially for the Gala. These will include contemporary masterpieces and classical favourites, including some highlights from his ten years as Artistic Director.
The Little Mermaid from September 12th to 17th, Playhouse QPAC
One of Hans Christian Andersen’s most popular stories, The Little Mermaid will be an enchanting and beautiful ballet. Determined to pursue her love, the Little Mermaid makes a bargain with the Sea Witch and forsakes her home beneath the waves to follow her Prince onto the shore. More than a simple fairy tale, this charming and poignant work explores the nature of longing, how making choices may have lasting consequences, and how goodness can be rewarded in unexpected ways.
… with attitude 2008 from September 19th to 26th, Playhouse QPAC
With verve, with style …with attitude! A showcase for new works and contemporary choreographic styles, …with attitude 2008 offers an evening of superb, stimulating dance.
In celebration of his ten years with the Company, François Klaus will choreograph a new piece set to an original score by didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton, who will perform his music live on stage. Guest choreographer Natalie Weir will also create a stunning new dance work. “I’m particularly happy to continue two important relationships in our …with attitude 2008 season. William Barton will perform his own composition in a new dance work we are developing together; and Natalie Weir will continue her innovative work with us as guest choreographer,” said François Klaus.
