Birmingham Royal Ballet presents 'Ballet
on the Buses'
The Birmingham Royal Ballet has got creative, transforming an
old Routemaster bus into a portable stage which was driven to
schools, community centres and other public spaces across Birmingham
this May. Named 'Ballet on the Buses' this inventive
work was the first collaboration between Birmingham Royal Ballet
and Fierce! Fierce! Festival is a month-long festival, now in
its 10th year, that brings live art to the Midlands and presents
it outside of traditional spaces.
Five dancers from the Company explored
both the dimensions of the bus and the possibilities of experimental
dance in a series of performances created by local choreographer,
Rosie Kay as the bus travelled to various Birmingham locations,
including local schools, for the free 10 minute performance.
