Genée International Ballet Competition
Held for the first time in North America, the competition held annually by London’s Royal Academy of Dance, is open to 15 to 19 year old RAD-trained dancers who have passed the Advanced 2 Examination in Classical Ballet with distinction or have been awarded the Solo Seal. Prizes include gold, silver or bronze medals and up to $11,000 in cash.

Teatro alla Scala, Italy - Audition

The Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship
The Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund (LUTSF) provides financial support by paying travel expenses to individuals (dancers, choreographers, administrators, teachers, therapists, journalists, photographers and others working in the field of dance/movement) who wish to travel abroad or in the United Kingdom to extend their knowledge and skills by attending a conference, pursuing a research project, or undertaking a short course of study in the field of Dance/Movement. The Australian Ballet School - National Auditions
The Australian Ballet School conducts preliminary auditions each year for all Training Programmes. Students undertaking these preliminary auditions are given a physical examination and a classical ballet class. Successful applicants for Levels 1-4 and the Interstate/International Training Programme (ITP) are notified in the weeks following these local auditions.
The National Finals are held in Melbourne for Levels 5 and 6. This is an intensive audition process in which national and international (where available) finalists work with the staff of The Australian Ballet School to determine their suitability for full-time vocational study and a career in classical ballet.

Arts Funding 2008
Grants are being offered in 58 categories and more than 60 initiatives are managed either directly or with partner organisations. All Australian artists, groups and arts organisations are welcome to apply to these grant programs and many of the initiatives. They are being offered for all major areas of arts practice – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, community partnerships, dance, inter-arts, literature, music, theatre and visual arts. The 2008 arts funding guide provides an overview of the Australia Council, its funding programs and other forms of support for the arts. Landerer Arts UK Scholarship
The objective of the Landerer UK Arts Scholarship is to strengthen the relationship between the UK and Australia by supporting an outstanding postgraduate student in the arts and creative industries to complete a Masters course in the arts and design in the UK.  The scholarship is $30,000 to contribute to the costs of tuition fees and stipend.  The scholarship is managed on behalf of the Landerer family by the British Council in Australia. John Landerer is a Sydney solicitor who wishes to support closer ties between Australia and the UK.

As part of the AntiStatic Reeldance Festival 2008, there will be a specially curated session of local dance film work.
Eligible films need to demonstrate strong connections between dance and film, whether it be dance made for the camera, or a dance-based documentary. Animation, narratives, and works that investigate ‘movement’ (figurative or other) using film language are welcome.

Soft Landing #2 2008 - Call for Expressions of Interest
Soft Landing is an on-going dance development project of the QL2 Centre for Youth Dance in Canberra. A unique opportunity exists for recent tertiary dance graduates to participate in Soft Landing 2: Exhibitionism, which will focus on the collaborative development and presentation of a new site-specific performance at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. Independent dance artist Brian Lucas will oversee and direct this project, providing opportunities for recent dance graduates to participate as either choreographers/performers or as collaborating dancers.
